The body of 45-year-old GP Dr Hannah Terry, also known as Hannah Cain, was found at a property in Fern Hill in Dersingham, in Norfolk, on Sunday.

Mark Cain, 45, also of Fern Hill, was charged with her murder on Tuesday.

He appeared in a black sweatshirt at Norwich Magistrates' Court, where he spoke only to confirm his age, name and address.

Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon told the court that the ambulance service contacted the police at 02:25 BST on Sunday.

She said a post-mortem examination "noted blunt force injury to the right side of her head had been inflicted, also an injury that could be suggestive of compression of the neck".
